SWISSPEAK Resorts | Meiringen (BE)

Updated: Nov 12, 2020

Sleeping at the foot of the waterfalls and few minutes from the lifts leading to the beautiful Hasliberg resort, SWISSPEAK Resort Meiringen offers you an animated holiday.

Our first SWISSPEAK experience was last year when we visited their resort in Vercorin and we had such a great time, we were delighted when they invited us to try another destination. We arranged to visit their new location in Meiringen as part of our Swiss road trip last week and arrived on Monday following our trip to Hoher Kasten.

The new resort is really large and very central to Meiringen so it’s easy to find. We arrived on a very wet afternoon and were happy to find our welcoming apartment for the next few days which was located on the ground floor. There is parking accessible from each separate building which are also interconnected with underground tunnels which is very practical, especially when it’s raining.

Our apartment itself was generously proportioned with plenty of space for us all and included two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a nice kitchen and living area - all of it spotlessly clean and very modern. Besides all of that, we also had a large terrace area with table and chairs outside. We soon settled in then our first port of call was the laundry area to catch up on the washing after a few days away.

We had pre-booked a slot in the laundry and Jean set off to manage that with Jude. After setting up the first wash, the boys went to explore the incredible games room which has lots of video games and a Playstation/XboX/Nintendo Switch set up. Jean eventually had to drag Jude away so that we could go for a little walk around Meiringen.

On our return we went to reception to order dinner from the very helpful reception staff. There is a restaurant in the main building with limited places for dining in-situ so we opted for the take away service every evening during our stay with a selection of burgers, salads and savoury crepes to keep everyone happy. It’s a good solution and meant we could easily manage Elio in the apartment when he started to get tired.

There is also a take-away breakfast service available which was a mix of pastries, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt and fruit. It was nice not having to think too much about breakfast as soon as I opened my eyes and the children were excited to open the boxes every morning and tuck into the waffles and pancakes.

The weather was much better on our last day which meant Jude and Alba could enjoy the outdoor play area where there are lots of games to keep the children busy.

The location is great with plenty of activities within easy reach, meaning that you could happily spend at least a week here without getting bored.

Having visited two of the SWISSPEAK Resorts now, we can absolutely recommend them for family holidays. The children were welcome everywhere and the resort felt so safe, it was a joy to see them having such a great time. The facilities are great and the people working there were really helpful and happy to provide information on the surrounding areas. A really wonderful place to experience the comforts of home whilst on holiday and we are already looking forward to discovering some of their other locations which include Zinal and Brigels.
