Swiss Vapeur Parc (VS) | En

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

We bought some discount tickets for Swiss Vapeur Parc through QoQa and had been checking the weather forecast ever since to find the perfect day that was neither too hot nor too cold to plan the trip.

A nice cool sunny Sunday arrived last weekend so we set off full of excitement.  It’s pretty easy to find and there is a car park directly outside the entrance.  The full price tickets cost CHF 17 per adult and CHF 14 per child, children under 3 are free .

Walking through the gates is a bit like stepping into another world and our eyes were quickly drawn to the first station and the trains chugging past in all directions.

We arrived just after opening time and even then it was relatively busy with quite a few people waiting to board the trains.  The first one to arrive was quickly full so we had to wait a little while for the next. We got ourselves comfortably installed and were soon on our way.

We absolutely loved the ride through the miniature town and really enjoyed trying to identify the versions of real Swiss landmarks as we passed, and Alba was happy to wave at other passengers as we past.

The ride took us over bridges, past lakes, castles and churches and through lots of small tunnels.  There are three stations and you can hop on and off as you like to explore parts of the park on foot.  It’s not enormous and the ride lasted about 15 minutes so we paused to eat something before taking a look around on foot.

There are a couple of restaurants to choose from as well as places to buy snacks and they all looked nice.  There are also two spots to picnic around the park if you prefer.  We had a hot dog each at the snack bar and chose to start by looking around the little town.

We put Elio in one of our soft baby carriers and Alba was on foot so we were easily able to access everywhere but we saw that they also have special trains for customers in wheelchairs which we thought was great.

There are two sets of toilets around the park - the larger of which has baby changing facilities.

It’s well organised, well run and a really enchanting outing.
