Bois de la Bâtie (GE) l En

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

I remember stumbling across Bois de la Bâtie by chance when I first moved to Geneva. I was living in Jonction at the time and before I really made many friends I would go off walking around the city at the weekends . It wasn’t until we went some years later with baby Jude that I realised I had been before.

There is a car park (not large but reasonable and there is a disabled space) just before the entrance and admittance is free which is already a great start.

The park is nicely laid out with raised paths which lead you to the various animals.  The nice thing is that you can get quite close to the animals so the children can really get involved.  There are rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs and birds to name a few and all all easily visible from the pathway.  Jude loved seeing the baby pigs today and Alba spent a good deal of time talking to a Shetland pony.

Further on from the animal park is a large play area which is large and well furnished with swings and slides as well as plenty of things to climb on.  I think there is also a paddling pool in the summer and places to picnic.

There are two sets of public toilets in the area and a cafe near the entrance.

It’s a nice stroll around the woodland area and the children all had a great time.
